In 2003, Ario Susanto did a thesis on Interoperability in the AEC Industry at the UNSW, Sydney. It was early days when IAI’s IFC just started getting traction. A decade later, interoperability is still a major item on the BIM development wish lists around the world. For us in Perth, working on projects overseas especially South East Asia, working on a non-proprietary method of exchange has become a necessity. This segment will explore what it means to work in an OpenBIM environment for Revit users who enjoy a single platform interface between disciplines. Ario will share current development around the region on interoperability, followed by examples from past projects and workshops he ran in Malaysia and Indonesia.
